How we handle your information
This notice explains what Campus Central collects when you apply for accommodation, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible
Campus Central is responsible for your information. Applications run on Talozen, a property management platform that processes your information on Campus Central's behalf.
What we collect
- Your name, ID or passport number, and contact details
- Your study details (institution, course, year of study)
- How your accommodation is funded (NSFAS, bursary, or self-funded)
- Where a guarantor or other payer is involved: their identity, contact, income and employment details
- Documents you upload to support your application
Why we collect it
We use this information to process your application: confirming who you are, assessing affordability, allocating a room, and preparing your lease. These are the steps needed to enter a lease at your request — we don't use your application information for anything unrelated, and we never sell it.
What we ask separately
Some things only happen with your explicit consent, asked in their own step — not by continuing past this page:
- Credit and reference checks, consented to when the person being checked signs their declaration
- Updates via WhatsApp
- If you used a referral link: your referrer contacting you to help with your application
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to process your application: a registered credit bureau (for consented credit checks), identity verification services, and our payment provider — plus anything the law requires.
How long we keep it
For as long as your application and any resulting lease need it, and as the law requires after that.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw any consent you gave (this doesn't affect what was done before you withdrew). You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
For any of these, contact apply@campuscentral.co.za.
